Each year, Adoptive Families polls readers on the average cost and length of time it takes to complete an adoption.
If more than 1,000 parents participate in the survey this year, they will randomly select one and donate $500 to the adoption charity of his or her choice

Have you adopted a child in the past 5 years? Purdue Calumet sociologist looking for white adoptive parents to interview about their choices and the adoption process. AdoptShops with Jane Brown
AdoptShops give children and young teens the opportunity to explore their ideas about adoption and to interact with their peers. AdoptShops are relevant to all adopted children and young teens whether they were adopted domestically, transracially, transculturally or by extended family members. Each AdoptShop is two hours long. Afterwards, Jane debriefs parents to advise them of issues that arose during AdoptShops. During this time, childcare is provided for the children in a different room.
Jane Brown is a long-time social worker and educator with years of experience working with children and young adults. She is a mother of eight children, five of whom are adopted from Korea, China and Hong Kong. Jane is a well-known speaker on adoption matters and sits on the board of Adoptive Families magazine. She has presented AdoptShops in Chicago for the past several years.

DuPage County Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Parent Education and Advocacy Group

The meetings are held in the education center on the north side of the hospital. For those interested in having their children learn a native language and live near Chicago, Multilingual Chicago offers a variety of languages and classes. They require a minimum of four (4) students to have a class. Languages not listed on the website can be scheduled when there is sufficient interest.
