Chicago Area Families for Adoption (CAFFA) is dedicated to providing information, education and support to adoptive and pre-adoptive families. CAFFA also serves as an adoption advocate by promoting awareness to the media and community at large.
CAFFA is approved as a charitable 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS. All donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact the CAFFA treasurer at treasurer@caffa.org.
Members
CAFFA is currently one of the largest adoptive parent support groups in the Chicagoland area - representing a diverse population. The percentage of domestic and international adoptions represented in CAFFA is almost equal, with many families consisting of both biological and adoptive children. Our members adopt children through many different avenues including private, agency, and agency-assisted. Membership also includes adoption professionals, agencies and families in the process of adopting.
Networking
Networking opportunities are available through the newsletter, attending CAFFA events, involvement on the Board, or a variety of committees. Our Board members will assist you in obtaining more information or with connecting with other members. All information is kept confidential as requested.
History
CAFFA began in 1973 as the Holt Adoptive Parents Group by parents who adopted Korean children through the Holt agency. These founding families recognized the need for support and sharing with other adoptive parents, which stands as the cornerstone of CAFFA. In 1986, in response to increasing demand throughout the Chicago area, we became the Chicago Area Families For Adoption and expanded out services to include the entire Chicagoland area.
