Rita L. Soronen—President & CEO, Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

For nearly 30 years, Rita Soronen has worked on behalf of abused, neglected and vulnerable children, providing leadership for local, state and national efforts working to improve the juvenile justice and child welfare systems, while striving to assure safe and permanent homes for North America's children.
 
Leading the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption since 2001, a national non-profit public charity, Ms. Soronen works to find adoptive families for each of the more than 130,000 waiting children in the United States and Canada's foster care systems.

Perspectives from the Adoption Triad
Patricia Dischler, Kevin D. Hofmann, Judith A. Stigger


Patricia Dischler is a nationally recognized speaker and author of Because I Loved You.  Her personal story of placing her son in a ground breaking open adoption in 1985 and the lessons learned, apply to all adoptions. Among the many hats she wears, she is currently President Elect for the National Association for Family Child Care.

Kevin Hofmann is an accomplished writer and public speaker and enjoys sharing his experiences as a biracial Transracial adoptee to help other adoptive families. Kevin's memoir, Growing Up Black In White is presently used as part of several college curricula in the schools of social work and multiculturalism.

Judy Stigger, LCSW, counsels families and teens in the years after adoption, and adults touched by adoption. She presents at national seminars, has authored a book, Coping with Infertility, and serves on Board of Adoptive Families Magazine. She and her husband are the adoptive parents of two grown, special needs, and cross-racially placed children.
